Great Jacket for a rainstorm
I got to use this jacket in extremely wet conditions. It held up fairly well. The bottom lower area of the jacket has material that can tighten and seal to your bottom layer. My only small complaint is that the cuffs (the bottom 6cm of the sleeve) is only water resistant, so if you aren't wearing water proof gloves, you will definitely feel wet in the wrists...but everything else is water tight. The hood tightening straps really helped too! I would have been ******* without this jacket.
Perfect - no frills jacket
I took it out to go boarding. Temperatures were around 19 - 35 F. The jacket paired with an thermal underneath kept my core warm. Outer zipper pockets worked well with gloves while still being low profile. Fits a little larger like an outer shell with enough length and girth to accommodate layering and gloves.
High Quality, Good Price, Attention Paid to the Important Things
I've only had this jacket for a few weeks and here in Cali we've had almost no rain and not much more snow. So, I haven't really been able to "field test" this jacket. But from what I've seen so far, this is a simple, efficient, well thought out rain and snow garment that should last quite a while. Quality of material, zips, pulls, closures, pockets is first rate. Nothing on this jacket is going to break from use or wear. One of the first things I adjust on a snow/rain jacket is the hood. A well fitting hood is an absolute necessity in a snow or rain storm, especially the visor which should keep the rain/snow out but not block your vision. This hood fits/adjusts perfect! Always a good sign. As for the rest of the jacket really, I think it's all good. I'd recommend it. As for size, I'm a solid "medium" and this jacket is a tad bit big but that's good as I'll be wearing my Primaloft jacket underneath most of the time in the snow. The rest of the time will be OK as the jacket isn't so big that it's uncomfortable. Looking forward to lots of years of wear from this ensemble.
I've got about three days using this jacket, and so far I love it! Fits great, super comfortable, and does exactly what it's supposed to do. I'm really impressed with the quality of the jacket, and the price is unbelievable! One of the best gear purchases I've made in years. My only suggestions: The front pockets zippers could use a little extra gripping material to pull up and down, and the
Alaska fishing trip
Took the jacket to Alaska fishing salmon. It was 55 degrees and raining for 5 days straight and we were surrounded by water. Not an ounce made it inside the jacket though. Plenty of freedom of movement casting 8wt fly rods and pocket space for a few flies, snips and the obligatory flask. Good purchase, cheaper than alternatives by all the major fishing brands.
